v2026-10-08.1 · 8 Oct 2026

The latest update.

Every release is driven by real use. This one drops the wearable sync promise from the Exercise card, gives laptops and desktops a layout of their own, keeps your custom foods list to foods you added, makes the chart dates readable again, and helps new users set their own targets.

No wearable sync

The Exercise card no longer says syncing with Garmin and Apple Health is coming soon. Macrolog runs in your browser, and Apple Health and Health Connect only share data with apps installed from an app store, so it isn't planned.

Logging exercise works as before: tap + Add on the Exercise card and enter the activity and the calories it burned.

A layout for bigger screens

On a laptop or desktop the navigation moves to a sidebar and Today splits into two columns, so your rings, meals and food log sit next to water, exercise, notes and weight.

The Trends and Macro History charts get more room, and sheets open as centred dialogs. Tablets get the phone layout, centred on the screen. Phones are unchanged.

Your custom foods stay your own

New installs no longer start with a set of pre-filled custom foods, and any food you delete from your list now stays deleted.

If your list already has these foods, they stay where they are. Delete any you don't use and they won't come back.

Readable chart dates

The dates along the bottom of the Trends and Macro History charts were cut off. They now show in full, and the kg and kcal labels no longer overlap the axis numbers.

New users now get the targets wizard once, after the tour, after skipping it or the next time the app opens, instead of starting on the default 2,500 kcal. Also: the History calendar's "Jump to Today" button is no longer hidden behind the bottom navigation, the Additional Nutrients section now collapses when tapped, the first-run tour no longer points at hidden parts of the screen, and on tablets the Ko-fi card no longer sits behind the navigation.

Everything you need to stay on track.

Built for daily use. No subscription, no account required. Your data stays on your device.

Up and running in minutes.

Five steps from install to your first logged meal.

  1. Install as a PWA

Open macroslog.co.uk in Safari or Chrome. Tap "Add to Home Screen" (iOS) or "Install app" (Android/Chrome) to install it as a native-feeling app, no app store required.

  2. Set your targets in Settings

Enter your daily calorie goal, protein, carbohydrate, fat, and sugar limits. Macrolog stores them locally on your device.

  3. Log meals

Type a food item and its macros, search your saved foods or recipes, or scan a barcode — the entry is added to your daily log instantly.

  4. Check the Today ring for progress

The macro ring updates as you log. Tap any segment to see the breakdown. A warning indicator appears if you approach your sugar limit.

  5. Review Trends weekly

Open the Trends tab to see your last 7 or 30 days of macros, calories, and body weight charted over time.

Self-host, sync, and extend.

Run your own lightweight Flask sync server to keep every entry on infrastructure you control, and plug in your own AI provider (Claude, Gemini, or OpenAI) for meal descriptions and summaries — your API key stays on-device. Both are optional and off by default.

Full setup instructions and the sync server source live in the repo: github.com/Oliver-Johnson/macro-tracker.
